In the words of Katharine Blake:  After the sumptuous and instrumentally complex feast that was Illumination, the Mediaeval Baebes' 7th Studio album (working title, "The Huntress") will be playing more to the unadorned elegance of the band's a cappella strengths amongst accompanied pieces. This move towards the simplicity of arrangement that is characteristic of the Baebes' earlier albums was inspired by our recent acoustic shows at Ely Cathedral's Lady Chapel and St John's Church in Hackney.
I am thrilled by the prospect of this "return to our roots" with the added sophistication that years of experience have provided.

Those of you who attended our Christmas tour in December will have been treated to material from our forthcoming album which includes a setting of one of the most famous of all Latin poems "Dies Irae", a song using words written by an Arabic woman entitled "The Clasp of a Lion" and the bittersweet rumination on the transience of beauty that is "The Rose Bud".
